Privacy Policy for Battle of the Better Half

Overview

Battle of the Better Half is a native iOS game for partners, published by Ryan Wentzel under a personal Apple Developer account (bundle ID me.ryanwentzel.betterhalf). This policy explains how the app handles the information you enter and create while playing.

The app handles data you enter so the game can work. Most app data is stored on your device unless you enable iCloud/CloudKit sync. Ryan Wentzel does not operate advertising tracking in this app, and Ryan Wentzel does not sell personal data. There is no ryanwentzel.me or wentzel.ai account tied to this app.

Information the app handles

To make the game work, the app handles information you enter or generate, which may include:

• Your display name and your partner’s name
• Skill ratings and your scoring rules and settings
• Pass-and-play partnership status
• Challenge and coupon data — including prize text, the challenge target, sender and recipient names, winner name, redemption status, and related dates
• Whether Pro is active (a cached entitlement status)
• Whether the 18+ confirmation has been completed
• Your optional notification preference and status

The app also includes read-only content bundled inside the app — a skill bank and Spicy coupon/dare content. This bundled content ships with the app and is not information about you.

Local storage on device

Most app data is stored on your device unless iCloud/CloudKit sync is enabled. The app does not require an account with Ryan Wentzel, ryanwentzel.me, or wentzel.ai, and there is no custom login or server-side profile. Data kept on your device stays under your control and is removed if you delete the app.

iCloud/CloudKit sync

The app is designed to support partner sync through Apple iCloud/CloudKit. When sync is enabled, app data may sync through your Apple iCloud account, including:

• Partnership data and ratings snapshots
• Challenge and coupon data, including sender and recipient display names and winner names
• Related app state

This data is associated with your Apple/iCloud account, not with a ryanwentzel.me or wentzel.ai account. iCloud syncing is provided and governed by Apple under Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy. You can manage or disable iCloud for this app in your device’s iCloud settings.

Pro subscriptions and Apple StoreKit

Pro subscriptions are handled through Apple StoreKit. The available products are:

• me.ryanwentzel.betterhalf.pro.yearly

Purchases and subscriptions are processed and billed by Apple under Apple’s terms. Ryan Wentzel does not receive or store your full payment card details. Apple may provide subscription entitlement and status information needed to unlock Pro features in the app.

Notifications

Notifications are optional. If you opt in, the app may schedule local notifications for challenge reminders, coupon updates, challenge wins, and redemptions. Notification content may include challenge or coupon text and display names. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.

Spicy mode and the 18+ confirmation

Spicy mode is double-gated: it requires both an active Pro subscription and an in-app 18+ confirmation. The 18+ confirmation is only an in-app preference used to unlock optional content in the interface. It is not identity verification and is not formal age verification. Whether you have completed the 18+ confirmation is stored as an app preference on your device and may sync through iCloud if you have enabled sync.

Data sharing

Ryan Wentzel does not sell personal data. Based on the current implementation, the app does not:

• Include third-party advertising SDKs
• Include third-party analytics SDKs
• Track you across other apps or websites
• Access your location, contacts, or photos/media library
• Access health data, the microphone, or the camera

Some data is necessarily processed by Apple to provide platform features you choose to use — iCloud/CloudKit sync, StoreKit purchases, and local notification delivery — under Apple’s terms. The app does not send your game data to servers operated by Ryan Wentzel, ryanwentzel.me, or wentzel.ai.

Data retention and deletion

Data the app stores on your device remains until you delete it in the app or remove the app from your device; deleting the app removes its local data from that device. If you enabled iCloud/CloudKit sync, you can remove synced data by deleting it in the app and/or by managing this app’s data in your device’s iCloud settings. Subscription records are retained and managed by Apple under Apple’s policies.

Children

Battle of the Better Half is intended for adults and is not directed to children. Spicy mode in particular requires an 18+ confirmation in addition to Pro. The app does not knowingly handle information from children.

Security

The app relies on the built-in protections of your iOS device and, when you enable sync, Apple’s iCloud security for data in transit and at rest. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and the app cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
